HOW TO AVOID BLUR CAUSED BY CAMERA SHAKE

Camera shake is a main cause of soft or blurry photos and this is caused by slow shutter speeds. When you have blurry photos due to camera shake your whole picture looks soft and mushy. The general rule of thumb for handholding your camera to get sharp photos is that you need a shutter speed equal to 1/focal length of your lens. For example, if you are shooting with a 200mm lens, your shutter speed should be at least 1/200 second. Faster is even better, some say that the shutter speed should be twice the focal length of your lens, 1/400 second. It will depend a great deal on how steady you are too.
